Chess Board Scaling

I’m designing a custom sized mouse pad and wanted to incorporate a chess board in the middle of it. Does the printing process introduce variability in the scale of the print or can I assume if I scale the board correctly in the image that it will print the correct size?
 
Also in one design I’m playing with the board is in the corner. What is the radius of the rounded corners as to be able to take that into consideration in spacing designs in that area?
